What is Stewardship?
A steward is defined as a Children of God who receives God's gifts gratefully, cultivates them responsibly, shares them lovingly in justice with others and returns them with increase to the Lord. Stewardship is a way of life that comes from seeing everything as a gift from God, changing the way we see things. A children of God is motivated by faith and a deep sense of gratitude, flowing from their faith, to a greater sharing of his/her time, talent and treasure with the Church and other worthy causes. Time, talent, and treasure are all shared as a gift, in a planned, proportionate, thankful, and sacrificial manner. Stewardship is not simply making donations or taking care of the building and grounds. ?It is a spirituality hence a way of life made of four parts:

1. Receiving the gifts of God with thankfulness.

2. Cultivating them responsibly.

3. Sharing them lovingly in justice with others.

4. Standing before the Lord in a spirit of accountability It is up to you to determine how you will live out this stewardship way of life. It is the way Jesus want you to take.

The Gifts of God

Think of God's gifts in broader terms, not simply the material goods or security you may enjoy. These are gifts, too:

1. Your faith, hope, love, and joy

2. Your family love and relationships with others

3. Your intelligence, talents, and skills

4. Your imagination, compassion, and vision

5. Creation in all its splendor

Our tradition teaches us that with so many blessings come great challenges. At all times in our lives, we have an opportunity-and a responsibility-to share what we have been given.

What Does Stewardship Looks Like?
Being a good Steward is to take care of the world around us, including embracing the needs of the poor in the world.

1. Is to work as partners with God in the redemption of the world.

2. Is to respect human life and dignity.

3. Is to protect the natural environment.

4. Is to share our gifts (time, talents, and treasures) with others.

5. Is to communicate our enthusiasm and to share the love of God.

For your own development as a steward, it helps to spend time in prayer and reflection to recognize your gifts from God. Then discover how best to use those gifts for the benefit of others and of course, invite others to discern and share their gifts, too.
